Unrivaled in its pageantry, athleticism and excitement, a Friday night game at “The Pit” is truly something special to behold. The electricity in the air feeds the fervor of the crowd as it hangs on each and every play. Each thump of the band’s drum beats the heart of Aliquippa. And most nights end with a dominating Quips win. 

As far back as most of us can remember, Aliquippa Athletics has been the pride and joy of our community as well as a breeding ground for national football greatness. It has long provided our children with the healthy outlet, life lessons, and aspirations that come from playing sports, while defying the city’s economic challenges since the 1980s.

Considering all that the Quips have given us, it’s time we give back by helping them build a new, modern home where they can play, grow, and excel for years to come. 

For far too long, our athletic complex has not reflected the on-field excellence of our beloved fighting Quips. Carl A Ashman Stadium, aka The Pit, has seen 85 years of wear and tear. Today, The Pit and its supporting facilities are woefully inadequate to support our student athletes’ needs into the future. 

While a fully funded renovation of The Pit is in the works — featuring field turf, new lights,  a scoreboard and bleachers — we still need help building a modern fieldhouse and supporting facilities to complete the Aliquippa Athletic Complex. 

Featuring locker rooms, a weight room, a training room, a large group classroom, and an equipment room, the new fieldhouse will support athletes and mathletes alike, available for coaches, students, teachers, tutors, community groups and organizations.

To make this a reality, we’re looking for donors and sponsors who understand how much the Quips mean to our community and are willing to invest in their exciting future.
